Class 8 Student Dies by Alleged Suicide in Bengaluru; Police Probe School Incident
Bengaluru: A 13-year-old Class 8 student studying at a government school in Bengaluru Urban district allegedly died by suicide at her home. Police are investigating whether a classroom incident and repeated questioning by school authorities led to the tragic incident.
According to police, a few students had reportedly given a teacher a nickname. After learning about it, the school’s headmistress questioned several students on Tuesday. During the inquiry, some students allegedly blamed the 13-year-old girl.
Police said the student was questioned several times over the next three days. Investigators believe she felt deeply hurt and embarrassed by the incident.
After returning home on Thursday, the girl allegedly died by suicide. Her family found her body on Friday morning.
Police said they are investigating all aspects of the case. According to officials, a note recovered during the investigation suggests that the student felt humiliated because of the questioning at school.
Further investigation is underway.
